Data Management
Arising in the 1980's as the optimal term relating to a very broad array of professions and disciplines, the official definition as provided by DAMA International , a non-profit, vendor independent, global association of technical and business professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information and data management: "Data Resource Management is the development and execution of architectures, policies, practices and procedures that properly manage the full data lifecycle needs of an enterprise."
Note: The DAMA is not the DMA - Direct Marketing Association headquartered out of New York, an association
in which Whitehat holds longstanding membership.
Today, as real time interaction has become the norm, information stored in many places is accessed multiple times and for many different queries and must be well defined and maintained in order to facilitate its usage across the broad scope of business needs.
